About Onrus and Hermanus

Onrus is a coastal village about 10 kilometres just before Hermanus when traveling from Cape Town. It has a quiet charm and warm and interesting people. Onrus is well known as a mecca for famous artists and authors which can be ascribed to the tranquility, beauty and peaceful pace at which one lives here. Against the backdrop of the Onrust Mountain the land stretches down towards the Onrus River lagoon and ocean, red sunsets dropping into the ocean from view points.

Hermanus, the world's foremost land-based whale watching destination, is a thriving holiday resort offering residents and holiday makers all modern amenities, yet retaining its fisherman's village charm. The town was placed at number 18 on the Tourism Sentiment Index (TSI) as one of the “Leading Places: The 100 Most Loved Destinations Around the World” for 2023.

Contributory factors to the success of the town are the natural scenic beauty, the mild climate, the range of outdoor activities available, and the close proximity to Cape Town, with Hermanus being a mere 140 km from the Cape Metrople. The ideal base from which to explore the Western Cape and the Cape Overberg.
